Jared Gomez
L.A. based, Salt Lake City native Jared Gomez has been in the business of beauty since the age of 19—working for 3 years as a freelance make-up artist, he quickly developed a love and a knack for creating beautiful work, but he still didn’t feel think this was his “true” calling. He decided to enroll in Cosmetology School in 1999, thinking that between a part time salon gig and freelance make-up jobs, he could put himself through college studying marketing and advertising. After one semester at the University of Utah, he dropped out to be a full-time Hairburner!
Two years later Jared or “Gorgeous Jared”, as he is known—found himself living in NYC. Working briefly at Antonio Prieto Salon as an assistant he landed his first job as a legit stylist in the hip, Lower East Side salon, Dandie. There he began working with the likes of Actress and Activist, Candis Cayne, Sex and the City Stylist, Rebecca Weinberg, Model, Alek Wek and then “hot new” band known as The Scissor Sisters; campaigns for American Express and his first of many Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks—he was living his dream.
After three years, immersing himself in New York culture and nightlife, he felt it was time to return to Salt Lake City and begin laying the groundwork for establishing his own “brand”. Spending his time between doing make-up and hair at Landis Aveda Salon, once again hair won out. Jared quickly climbed the tribal ranks with Aveda to become a certified Aveda Purefessional Colorist and Grand Salon favorite by being one of the first stylists to put Ombre on the map in Utah.
Upon leaving Aveda, Jared has since become a fixture at the Sundance Film Festival, local television personality on the highly rated morning talk show: The Daily Dish , Pravana Certified Educator, owner of Versus. Salon @ Image Studios and annual Spring/Summer NYFW stylist. His motto is simple: “Consistency, humility and passion will open the world to you.”
