Arm Lift Surgery (Brachioplasty)

About this procedure

Excessive amount of upper arm skin can occur after weight loss, or it can be an inherited trait. Disproportionate amounts of extra skin and fat in the upper arms can limit the clothing one can wear, and can interfere with many activities.

There are two ways to rid oneself of excess skin and fat in the upper arms, safely and with minimal scarring. If the condition is not pronounced, the lesser deformity can frequently be corrected through liposuction. If the condition is pronounced, the large, hanging folds of skin are best treated by excision.

During an arm lift surgery, the excess skin and fat are first freed from the underlying arm structures, and muscle nerves and vessels are protected. The excess skin and fat are then removed, and the brachioplasty arm lift is then closed, leaving the scar in a natural groove, which is not readily seen.

At Fairbanks Plastic Surgery Center, we make every effort to minimize scarring and give our patients the natural, thinner, and younger look they hope to achieve.
